The House of Smith: The Imperial Dynasty of Brendania

The House of Smith was established on October 21, 2026, by the same founding instruments that proclaimed the Sovereign Empire of Brendania and claimed Bir Tawil as its sovereign territory. Its founder and first sovereign is Brendan Smith I, styled Founder of the House of Smith.

The regnal numeral "I" marks Brendan Smith as the first monarch of the dynasty and establishes the numbering for future sovereigns of the same name.

The Imperial Act of Ratification provides that succession is hereditary within the House of Smith. The reigning Emperor may designate an heir by written decree. This combines the continuity of hereditary monarchy with the sovereign's discretion to name a successor.

Under the Doctrine of Imperial Continuity, the person of the Emperor and the institution of the Crown are distinct. The monarch occupies the office; the office provides continuity beyond the monarch. The House of Smith is the vehicle of that continuity, carrying the Crown from one generation to the next.

The following ceremonial traditions have been proposed for adoption by Imperial Decree: an Investiture of the Crown, an annual Imperial Address, an Oath of Stewardship for officials, a Founding Day observance on October 21, and the custody of state instruments by the House. Each will be recorded in the Imperial Chronicle when adopted.
